LCD Televisions

It is pretty common to see an LCD TV in almost every household. With everyday that goes by the technology around us is constantly advancing and so these televisions are constantly getting far better than the old ones which were introduced in the market.

Wherever you go LCD TVs have taken over the market with lots of competition all around it as well. It is pretty common to see an LCD TV in almost every household. With everyday that goes by the technology around us is constantly advancing and so these televisions are constantly getting far better than the old ones which were introduced in the market. There are several features, aesthetic designs and various other functions which have been introduced into the LCD televisions of today.

However maximum people are shifting to the new LCD televisions in the changing times, there are still a handful of people who still look for that one LCD that would fit their budget as well as their preference. With the number of brands increasing day by day the confusion caused and the right place to look for the television makes it all the more difficult. This difficulty involves the various options to be looking into such as size, resolution, brand budget and other factors. Further are discussed a few of the factors that determine the decisions made on going for which particular television.

The size is one of the most important factors that buyers look for while buying an LCD TV. With the LCD technology coming into existence the size can be as small as 19 inches to something as huge as 70 inches which would have a widescreen display. It is a known factor that as the TV gets big it gets more expensive. On a personal level for the bedroom a normal 22 to 26 inch TVs are the best. If it is for the living or the family room then going for something as big as 40-50 inches are the best. Children love having a big TV while they lay their Play Station and Nintendo and other video games. People who go for the ones as big as 70 inches can actually use their home as a small home theater for friends.

The next comes the resolution of the television. Maximum people go for the 1080p or else the 720p. What is important is to know the difference between them both. To put it simply into words one has more pixels than the other. The 720p may just stretch which would result in stretching the screen/pixels and thus the picture is not clear at all. However the 1080 pixels give it a more detailed outlook. This is where the customer must know what he wants. If the size is small then a 720p resolution should be invested upon and in case of a large TV then the requirement of 1080p resolution is the most ideal choice for the family.

Once the size and the resolution have been decided upon then the biggest decision or factor for any household would be the budget/pricing of the LCD TV. Sometimes wanting the best may not be that easy to stay within the budget estimated by the consumer. For most go for the common tag line – the bigger the better but because of having to stay within budget would go for a lower resolution and so would ruin the purpose of having an LCD TV. Thus it is important to keep in mind all factors and combined accordingly.

Women Protection and Rights

Posted by Tips Providers

Pakistan entered a new era when the President signed the Protection and rights against Harassment of Women at Workplace Bill  that is designed to provide a safe working environment for women.

Mostly men love women but not think about her protection and rights. Considering that one factor that deters female mobility outside the home is sexual harassment and that no other country in South Asia has a law like this, it is indeed a landmark event. But can we be certain that this law will actually change the situation on the ground? Although the title of the bill is not explicit on this score, the definition of ‘harassment’ is quite comprehensive in the text. It encompasses any “unwelcome sexual advance or request for sexual favours” or “sexually demeaning attitudes, causing interference with work performance”. The act is also significant for the mechanism it requires every employer and the government to set up, where women can take their complaints. A comprehensive code of conduct has also been spelt out to guide employers in drawing up their own rules and publicising them.

The problem with many good laws in Pakistan is that they fail to get implemented. If they are then they are not put to optimum use by those for whose benefit they are introduced. Thus every organisation whether in the public or private sector is required to set up an inquiry committee to receive complaints and award penalties, and draw up a code of conduct for its employees.

The government has to appoint ombudsmen in every province to provide an avenue for appeal to anyone who feels he has been wrongly charged. All women wants their protection and rights. It must be ensured that this machinery is created for an even-handed approached. There is also the need to create awareness among women about their rights under this law and how they can seek redress in an effective way if they are harassed. One hopes that all the stakeholders will proceed to do what they need to so that the law does not remain a dead letter. No doubt, they will encounter problems along the way, but the end result will be a more confident female working force.

Blessings of Allah

Posted by Tips Providers

Assalam-O- Alaikum,

SuhbanAllah, Allah has made us with eyes, ears, hands and feet and intelligence that lets us accomplish great things in life. Allah creat every things. All these things are blessings of Allah. Man has built great buildings, aircrafts, space crafts and all sorts of amazing things. We look below us, we see tiny specs of dust, small organisms and insects that look tiny compared to us. Plants, animals that we see around us make us think of the things we created as “big” and “amazing”. We begin to imagine ourselves as “big”, “intelligent” and “mighty”.

Then we look around us and we see the vast lands, huge mountains and oceans. We get the feeling of how big the earth is. When we stand at the foot of a giant mountain, or at the beach of an open sea, we are humbled by its greatness.

Somehow we are still able to relate to the huge oceans and mountains and earth in comparison to ourselves. Then we look up to the skies. We see planets and stars.

The sun is much bigger than Jupiter. Sun has a diameter of

about 1,392,000 kilometers (865,000 mi). Look at the
picture below and you will realize how much bigger the sun is as compared to the earth.

A real scale composite picture of the earth and the sun.

But is there something even bigger than the sun?

Certainly there is….! ALLAH HO AKBAR

So numerous and shining And we ask

Is Earth the biggest thing in existence?

Certainly not …..

Allah Almighty created the planet Jupiter, the larger than

earth by 1300 times!!! ALLAH HO AKBAR

A real scale image illustrates the magnitude of the giant

planet Jupiter with the Earth.... 1300 times bigger!

Is there something bigger than Jupiter?

Certainly there is………
ALLAH HO AKBAR

The star Antares dwarfs our sun

A real scale image illustrates the magnitude of our sun (a point hardly seen on the picture) compared to star Antares

(Heart of the Scorpion).

Antares compared to Arctus and the Sun

Image above compares, on a real scale, our sun and the star

Arcturus with the giant Antares. The dotted line represents

the entire orbit of Mars (227 Million Km) while the Antares

is 300 Million Km! The smaller star to the side is Arcturus.

It is a mere 20 Million Kilometers. And our bright sun is

the small dot on the top. If Antares were placed in the

center of our solar system, its outer surface would lie

between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

So are there more stars like Antares, or is it the only one?

There certainly are many…….

A true picture is a small part of the sky shows stars are

innumerable -even giant stars like the Antares.

Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for

beauty).

Praise be to Allah, Askyfilled withstarslike . .

 The VY Canis Majoris

would take over 7,000,000,000,000,000 (7 quadrillion)

vastness. Is there something bigger than VY Canis

:Pulsar

In recent times scientists have discovered the existence of

pulsars. Pulsars are highly magnetized, rotating neutron

stars that emit beams of radiation. Their radiation can only

be observed when the beam of emission is pointing straight

towards the Earth. This lighthouse effect causes an

observed pulsed nature that gives pulsars their name. The

first pulsar was observed on November 28, 1967.

Pulsars make sounds like a hammer or knock, and the

radiations they emit can penetrate and puncture anything

including the earth. The link below is to sounds of pulsars

from Cornell University’s database. From this database

please listen to: “B1933+16 One of the brightest known

pulsars--every pulse is audible”; And also listen to the

third file in the set: “B2020+28 A bright pulsar, most

individual pulses are audible”. Notice how the sounds

This is what summed up for us in the verse of the Koran

wonderfully, Allah gives a description of these stars through two words:

By the heavens, and At-Târiq (one who knocks at night); And what

will make you to know what At-Târiq is? (It is) the star of piercing

(brightness);

The word “Tariq” accurately reflect the action or audio

waves of these stars – knocking sounds, and the word

“Thaqib” accurately reflect the outputs of these stars –

penetrating waves,

Is Pulsar the only thing that hugely endangers us with

radiation or is there something that endangers us also?

There certainly is …… and it is much nearer to us than the pulsars

The burning sun

At the time of the descent of the Koran, no one on earth

knows the true reality of the sun. But Allah, who created

the sun, described it precisely saying:

And We have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun).

This verse emphasizes that the sun is a lamp and lamp is a

machine for burning fuel and the generation of light and

heat. This is what the sun does; it burns fuel and generates

light, heat and radiation. We benefit a lot from the light and

heat of the sun. But just as one must be shielded safely

from a lamp’s power to burn, we must be safely shielded

from the Sun as well. Thus it is scientifically very accurate

to label the sun as a lamp.

mind keeps going back to the huge pulsars. Is there

something more in the universe of even more significance?

The Black hole

Scientists have recently discovered the existence of black

holes they called Stars, and is characterized by three

properties: 1 – it cannot be seen, 2 -are at high speeds, 3

These are the three qualities that are told to us in the Quran

in three words:

This verse of the Koran are a frontrunner in talking about

black holes before they were even discovered by the

scientists.

Magnetic shield around the earth

as we see it repels particles emitted from the Sun called the

vanished life on Earth.

The Aurora.

This is a picture of the polar aurora, which appears in the

Arctic region. Generally speaking, this phenomenon is the

most amazing natural phenomena. It took scientists many

years to learn their secrets, and finally turned out to be

formed because of the Earth's magnetic field.

This aurora is the Earth’s defense mechanism. The deadly

solar wind, instead of “burning us”, is itself dissipated,

deflected and “burned” away from us by this magnetic

field.

See this magnificent view, Is it not worthy of this great

phenomenon that is sworn by Allah? Allah says:

A Galaxy

ALLAH HO AKBAR

Typical galaxies range from dwarfs with as few as ten

million stars up to giant galaxies with one trillion stars, all

orbiting the galaxy's center of mass. Galaxies can also

contain many multiple star systems, star clusters, and

various interstellar clouds. Most galaxies are 1,000 to

100,000 parsecs in diameter. The parsec measurement unit

is used in astronomy. The parsec is a unit of length, equal

to just under 31 trillion kilometers (about 19 trillion miles),

or about 3.26 light-years. Although it is not yet well

understood, “dark matter” appears to account for around

90% of the mass of most galaxies. Observational data

The Galactic Filaments and Sheets

. [L. .. .! .

Filaments of Galaxies.

The Universe has countless numbers of Galaxies. Each of

the dots in the above picture is a galaxy. There are

probably more than 100 billion galaxies in the observable

universe. Perhaps many Trillions more exist in the universe

we have not yet observed! Galaxies are usually separated

by distances on the order of millions of parsecs (or

megaparsecs). Intergalactic space (the space between

galaxies) is filled with a tenuous gas of an average density

less than one atom per cubic meter.

The majority of galaxies are organized into a hierarchy of

associations called clusters, which, in turn, can form larger

groups called superclusters. These larger structures are

generally arranged into sheets and filaments, which

surround immense voids in the universe.

Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says:

.# . !.

(

)
. .

By the heaven full of Hubuk ( paths, fibers, weave) (7)

The Great Wall (also called Coma Wall), is one of largest

known super-structures in the Universe. It is a filament or a

filament wall of galaxies which measure over 500 million

light-years long, 300 million light-years wide and 15

million light-years thick. It was discovered in 1989. It is not

known how much farther the wall extends due to the plane

of the Milky Way galaxy in which Earth is located. The gas

and dust from the Milky Way obscures the view of

astronomers and have so far made it impossible to

determine if the wall ends or continues on further than they

can currently observe! These sheets and filaments weave

together like a textile cloth. In this big weave the giant

galaxies are just like small glittering specs!

And there is some thing bigger than it!

.

.

.

The Building of the Universe……….

At first, scientists thought that the universe is mostly

vacuum, and they gave it the name “space”. In the late

twentieth century, scientists have discovered something

new. They found that the universe is certainly like a

building made of small blocks. The conventional model for

galaxy evolution predicts that small galaxies in the early

Universe formed into the massive galaxies of today by

coalescing into clusters, superclusters, filaments and sheets.

These are the “small” lego-like building blocks that make

the structure or building of the universe.

Pic 13: The structure of the Universe. The small line on the top

shows a scale of 100 Million Light Years!

Lego-like “building blocks” initially detected by Hubble

likely contributed to the visual construction of the Universe

as we know it. NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope

observations confirmed that these galaxies are some of the

smallest blocks of the Universe which is made like a

building. Look closely at the picture above and you may

see some patterns and architecture to it.

This structure has a geometry and architecture of its own.

There are “voids”, “walls”, cluster areas or “rooms”, vast

hallways and “passages”.

Current interpretations of astronomical observations

indicate that the age of the Universe is 13.73 billion years,

and that the diameter of the observable universe is at least

93 billion light years. This is just the part of the universe

that we can observe. Only Allah knows what else there is in

the universe and how big it really is. There is much work

that still need to be done in cosmology to even start to

appreciate the large-scale structure of the universe.

This is truly mind boggling….Something that that the mind

finds difficult to imagine. Is than some thing bigger than

this? Something that will make it all look like a spec of

dust?

Certainly there is!!!!!!!!

There is something bigger so big that

Best Help Desk Software

Posted by Tips Providers

Without a doubt, any company would want to deliver services that are worth the money that their clients and customers pay for. Possessing the capability of reaching out to patrons’ needs even after transactions have been made is truly invaluable. Not to mention that the fast and efficient resolution of problems can boost the company’s relations with customers.

However, attending to each and every complaint or troubleshooting issue can be overwhelming, especially with a lack of resources. Help desk software comes in very handy at this point. But don’t just settle for the first one that comes your way. The best help desk software will need a bit of careful thought before being selected and utilized.

Consider The Cost and Expenses:

One of the first factors that companies consider is the cost or expenses that it will bring them. Just because they can afford it, many believe that the more expensive the help desk software, the better and more superior it must be. Although you’re more likely to get added features and assurance over quality, price may not really matter. The best help desk software tips may be one that is either free or really inexpensive. It’s all about evaluating the services and options that are needed. It’s about making full use of the potential it has and making the most out of your money.

Adequate Tracking Ability:

So what should one look for when making an evaluation? To begin with, the best help desk software is characterized by the impressive ability to record and track issues as they come and go. Adequate issue tracking should be allowed. A call should never be lost from the time it is logged to the time it is closed. The capability of tracking it should still remain as well as the accessibility to call history. The time and date of calls should be automatically recorded. Manipulation or changing of time and date stamps should not be possible so managers can monitor the statuses of each call made by the call center agent.

The best help desk software must be able to take note of the different phases a call has. From the time it is logged to when it is closed, the manager should be able to access information on the cycle and status of each. In short, help desk software shows how long an agent or technician took to resolve an issue, how many times the line has been put on hold, when was it completed, and so on and so forth. It should also reflect who managed the issue, how many times it has been transferred and what took place during an agent’s watch.

Of course there will be times when agents and technicians won’t be able to handle issues on their own and will need to transfer them. The help desk software makes it possible for calls to be upgraded or downgraded as well as tag these as “normal,” “urgent” or “critical.” The entry details cannot be manipulated but individuals are allowed to attach notes to them. The notes must also contain the date and time they was made. To save effort, time and resources, a few help desk software can automatically log calls from email or text messages from a cell phone without the need of human intervention.

The best help desk software allows calls to be escalated or flagged within certain parameters. For example, if no resolution has been made within a specified period of time, then a notification shall be made to the manager. Each and every detail of the transaction must be accessible and should be tamper-worthy. Features like these look out for the efficiency of a company and ensure that the best services are provided for their patrons.

Photoshop and Photography Tips

Posted by Tips Providers

Why? How could our Photoshop tips help you?

ALL of your old photographs and "tweaking" them, I did!

For the last few years, it has added a whole new dimension to my photography. Needless to say, colour processing didn't get a look in, I left that to the pros at the labs!

For the past two years I have been using Kevin Kubota's Photoshop Action sets on most of my wedding images and find them invaluable.

In typically "Me" style, I just loaded a photograph and started to play around, clicking this, sliding that ... it wasn't long before I got very frustrated with the sheer amount of features and effects available and so I shut the whole thing down for a while.

Then I started to read, and to listen to other people and their own Photoshop tips, people who knew what they were doing, and it wasn't long before I was as "at home" with Photoshop as I was up in the loft in the early 80's! It is not unusual for me to spend up to 8 hours a day on Photoshop CS nowadays.
I will show you simple Photoshop tips and techniques such as turning a somewhat bland photograph into something useable, for example...

A large Spanish Real Estate company, asked me to do something with their logo for an awards ceremony. This is the logo.

This took a lot more work but, once you know how, it isn't that difficult!

The same company asked me to produce an A1 print based on the Ocean's Eleven theme using the Directors of the company. Again, using the wonders of Photoshop CS I came up with this. I think they liked it, it is still hanging on the wall as large as life! With today's technology, online printing services can produce anything from postcards to banners, right from your desktop!

If you are serious about photography and feel that you want to explore a new and exciting avenue, give it a try. Once you get the hang of it, I can assure you that you will Always use it! It will really get your creative juices flowing.

Oh, and you don't have to have the latest version to get creative. Why not look at Photoshop CS2, a couple of generations old now but still great software and a lot cheaper than the latest reincarnation!

There are many other editing suites out there but none come close this one in terms of features and professionalism. However, it is pricey and not feasible for most people. With the amount of programs available, most with free trial, it is easy to end up with a PC that has 5 or more editing programs on it!

Please, please, please just stick to a maximum of 2, otherwise you will get confused as to which one does what and how?

If Photoshop is too much at this stage (both financially and on a learning curve basis), then I would suggest you look at Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 or 8 . They are the "baby brothers" of Photoshop, much cheaper and more user friendly. It is also a great start to get you learning all the exiting techniques and alterations you can make.

One other piece of software I find myself using more and more is ACDSee. It is a fantastic program that allows you to upload from a scanner, burn to a CD, remove red-eye and do most basic editing techniques. Most of all it has the best file viewer facility that I find myself using use all the time.

If you want to scan through all the photos in one of your files, you simply click on the one you want to see and then use the scroll wheel to flick through your pics. That's not all by a long shot...

Math Tips

Posted by Tips Providers

mathematics is different studying than studying subjects like English and history. You bet it is! And it could be the reason why some students are not as successful in mathematics as they are in other subjects.

Here mentioned some math tips.

One of the keys to success is regular practice just as you practice when you learn to play the piano or basketball. Here are some tips for helping you succeed in mathematics.

Attendance

Preparing for a Test

Taking a Math Test

Attendance

Attend class regularly and take notes.

Ask Questions

Don't be afraid to ask questions in class. There are always other students in class who have the same questions but are too shy too ask.

Read Your Text

Many students depend solely on the instructor's lecture and explanations in class to do their assignments, without reading the explanation or studying the examples in their text. If you get stuck, one of the best resources you have is your text! Many exercises are keyed to specific examples or objectives that will explain the procedures for working them. Try to identify the main ideas that are in each lesson. Often they are clearly highlighted or boxed in the text.

Homework

Review your class notes and try reworking the problems the instructor did in class. Many students say "I understand it perfectly when you do it, but I get stuck when I try to work the problem myself." Reworking the problems the instructor did in class will help reinforce what you have learned.
Try to do your math homework as soon after class as possible, and reserve some time later in the day to attack the problems that you get stuck on the first time around.

Check your work with the answers in the back of the book. If you get a problem wrong, check to see if there is an example in the book similar to the problem you are working on. Study the example and then try to do the example problem with your book closed. Then give the homework problem another try its is usefull mayh tips. If the answer is not correct, check your computations (arithmetic and algebra). If you still have difficulty solving the problem, mark that problem so that you can get help with it.

Keep your homework in a notebook. The more organized it is, the more it will serve you as a guide for seeking help in resolving difficulties and studying for tests.

Getting Help

Visit your instructor during office hours.

Take advantage of the tutoring services on campus.

Visit the Tutoring Center.

Form a study group with your classmates.

Preparing for a Math Test

Many students work hard preparing for a test and yet they don't do as well as they expected. Here are some suggestions that might help:

Work regularly on your math homework. If you have difficulties get them cleared up right away.

A couple of days before the test, start to work through the sections to be covered on the test. Work sample problems. make notes on what each section is about. Get help with material you don't understand.

Make a summary of the different kinds of problems that will be on the test. Describe each problem type, describe the steps in working the problem, do an example of each. Your summary should include key definitions and/or theorems.

The last studying you do before the test should be in reviewing your summary. For each problem type it includes, make sure that you know the steps needed for its solution. Also, make sure that you know and understand all key definitions and/or theorems.

Taking a Math Test

Many students feel that they knew the material for a test and yet they did not do as well as they should have.

A few tips: Prepare as well as possible. Start preparing yourself mentally and, as the instructor passes out the test materials, think about your test taking strategies.

The following should be part of your plan:

Keep cool.

Do a "memory dump". While your head is still clear and before looking at the test, write yourself some notes. Include those things you think you might forget or "cautions" about typical errors you have made before.

Make a reasonable attempt at each problem. If you get it, fine. Go on. If you don't get it, put a check by it and then forget it until you have finished the rest of the problems.

When you have tried all of the problems on the test, go back and do the best you can on the checked problems.

If you can do only part of a problem, do it. Partial credit is better than no credit.

Above all, remain cool. Don't think about how you are doing or what happens if you don't do well. (You can do that after the test.) Don't worry if you find something you don't know.

First Cheetahs Born in UAE

Posted by Tips Providers

In UAE Coun 4 cheetah born after 38 years. The seven-week-old northern cheetahs are about 25cm long and closely trail behind their shy mother, Safira, who was brought to the 4,100-hectare Arabian Wildlife Park from captivity two years ago.

Visitors on guided nature drives have already spotted the new family, said Marius Prinsloo, the manager of conservation and agriculture at Sir Bani Yas Island.

“Some groups have been lucky enough to encounter the female with the cubs,” Mr Prinsloo said yesterday. “The mother is very secretive about her movement, but the babies are very playful. They go around with her, following her wherever she goes and they’re fighting, rolling around, sneaking and chasing each other.”

As the cubs mature and grow into their hunting instincts, he said, Safira will take them on longer journeys. Safira is roughly 31kg and nearing six years old as a fully grown female.

The birth of the four cubs doubled the island’s population of northern cheetahs. The northern cheetah is classified as a “vulnerable” species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and is a close relative to the indigenous Arabian cheetah, which became extinct in the UAE in 1972.

“This is a very significant event because with these animals, both the mother and father were captive-bred,” Mr Prinsloo said.

“These animals were properly rehabilitated, brought here, and from that, these two zoo animals became truly wild and even had babies in the wild.”

The father, Gabriel, is not involved with raising the cubs, as female cheetahs are solitary and males are brought in purely for mating.Aimee Cokayne, the research and conservation officer at the wildlife park, said the animals mated in early October.

The cubs were born in a mountain cave without human interference, although Ms Cokayne, with whom the animals are familiar, tracked Safira by her radio collar.

“Aimee found a signal on the mother and it was the same place every time, so we suspected she was staying there because the cubs were born,” Mr Prinsloo said.
Identifying the sex of the cubs is tricky. Ms Cokayne has so far only been able to observe them from a distance.

“We think we have three males and a female, but we’re not 100 per cent sure,” she said in a video released by the Tourism Development & Investment Company, which runs the conservation project. She expected to be able to tell boys from girls in a few months.

Survival rates for cheetah cubs are low, but Ms Cokayne called it “a triumph” that Safira has been able to keep the family intact. “Having these cheetahs on the island and re-wilding and having them breed in a natural situation … that in itself is an amazing thing,” she said.

Earlier this year, two striped hyenas a species that is extinct in the UAE were born as part of the breeding programme. Also, Mr Prinsloo said four baby giraffes were born last month on the island.

How To Play Omaha

Posted by Tips Providers

Omaha Hi operates the same as Omaha Hi/Lo, except that the pot can be won by a hi and lo hand. Hi/Lo is a poker game that splits the stake pool into two equal pots. At the end of the game, all hands must be formed with three community cards and two hole cards. The highest ranking hand wins the Hi pot, while the low pot is won by a hand that contains the lowest series of cards, each no greater than eight (excluding Aces). The best and lowest possible Lo hand is an Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5. If no Lo hands can be made, the Hi pot winner takes the entire pot. A lo hand with the lowest high card beats other lo hands.

A game of Omaha is initiated by putting stakes into the pot, called the small and big blinds. The players who make the blinds are determined by their seating relation to the dealer, who is marked by a dealer 'button'. The player on the left-hand side of the dealer has the job of making the small blind, while the second player to the left of the dealer has the job of making the big blind. The small blind is half of the minimum stake wager, and the big blind is the full minimum stake wager. Each game, the dealer button rotates one position to the left, so that the player who made the small blind will be the dealer in the next game.

As soon as the blinds are put into the pot, four cards are dealt to each player at the table, after which, the first betting round is initiated. The player to make the first move is the one to the immediate left of the player who made the big blind. This player has the option of folding, checking (which is betting an amount equivalent to the big blind) or raising, (there is a maximum of three raised per betting round). All players, in turn, follow in a clockwise fashion. The betting round ends when it has gone full circle to the player who made the big blind bet. On a side note, if the players who made the blind bets fold in the first round, they will receive half of their stake back.

The Flop follows the first betting round, which is the first series of community cards. (Community cards are upturned cards that all players use to form their hands). Three cards are turned over on the Flop.

After the Flop is carried out, the second betting round begins. It operates exactly as did the first betting round. In addition, players now have the option of calling, which amounts to passing on any action if a bet has not been made yet in the round.

The Turn follows the second betting round, which is the addition of one more community card, bringing the total to four.

After the Turn is carried out, the third betting round begins. It operates exactly as did the first and second rounds, but with one change. The bet and raise amount is set at the maximum stake limit of the table.

The River follows the third betting round, which is the addition of another community card, bringing the total to five.

After the River is complete, the fourth betting round begins. It goes by the same rules that the third betting round did, and ends when the last remaining player makes their move. All players will show their hands to determine hi and low pot winners (if any).

The best strategy for playing Omaha Hi is to gage your game by asking yourself whether you should fold your hand or keep playing it. Especially for Omaha Hi/Lo, it is important to do this right from the start - And to do so while considering your hands potential of not just being the highest ranked hand, but for the lo side of the pot as well.

The following tips do not subscribe to any poker strategy that claims to call itself tight nor aggressive. Rather, these tips are helpful in that they inform a player about their odds of forming a wide variety of hands. Whether this is a pair or straight, it is your responsibility to then determine if you would still like to stay in the game. A large factor that cannot be pinpointed are the other players. If you feel another player has a three of a kind, you may not want to stay in the game if you only have good potential of forming a high pair. Therefore, the best way to use these tips are to guide your folds in the first two betting rounds. After that, it is up to you to use your bluffing skills (if need be) and good perception skills regarding other players.

Two Pairs of 10 or higher

Four cards no greater than 5

Ace/2

Ace/three Face Cards

Ace suited with any card

Ace with low cards no greater than 5

Pair of Aces (one Ace suited with any third card)

Pair of Aces/two cards no greater than 8

Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif include the corruption of Pakistan. It’s difficult to imagine anything competing for headline space with the historic accord on the 18th Amendment. Difficult, that is, unless you factor in Zardari and corruption.

Instead of basking in the glow of the deal on the 18th Amendment, a historic, momentous political success, Zardari has been forced to deal with the ghosts of his corrupt past this week. Is the Supreme Court out to get Zardari? I don’t know. What I do know is that while there were 8,041 beneficiaries of the NRO, there was only one Mr NRO: Asif Zardari. And the Supreme Court appears determined to not let us forget that.

CJ Iftikhar and Justice Ramday stunned long-time observers of the court by breathing fire on second-tier bureaucrats and government officials on Tuesday. When I made my way to the court on Wednesday, all anyone wanted to talk about was the dramatic scenes in the court a day earlier. A veteran lawyer who ardently campaigned for CJ Iftikhar’s reinstatement and, shall we say, isn’t a fan of Zardari was apoplectic.

Courtrooms, you see, are meant to be a picture of serenity and calm. But for a brief while on Tuesday, the soaring ceiling of Courtroom No 1 may well have been a big top as judges threatened with imprisonment the sacrificial lambs that appeared before them. The reason was ostensibly the across-the-board non-implementation of the NRO judgment, but the judges did betray a peculiar interest in the progress on the Swiss cases and NRO beneficiaries in the Zardari circle.

Like most people, I would be happy to see the rascals and the scoundrels who dot our political landscape and public officialdom get it in the neck. But there’s a time and place for everything and a way of doing things. And what transpired on Tuesday was definitely not the ideal way of getting the NRO judgment implemented.

Or was it? Enter the wretchedness of Pakistani politics.

Ever since the Dec 16 short order, the government has claimed that Zardari has constitutional immunity and nothing can be done about the Swiss cases as long as he’s president. To most constitutional lawyers this was a reasonable, even accurate, reading of the law.

But then the judges breathed fire and suddenly the letters to Switzerland were drafted. So are we now to assume that Zardari doesn’t in fact enjoy immunity? And if he does, then what’s changed? Nothing, other than the fact that the judges had to metaphorically pound their gavels to get the government to act.

Wouldn’t you be tempted to take this route, then, if you were on the Supreme Court? It’s easy to blame the judges for overstepping the boundaries of propriety and courtroom conventions, but had the government just done earlier what it’s in the process of doing now there would have been no need for courtroom unseemliness.

What’s next for Zardari? To understand that, we need to start with what the Supreme Court ordered in the NRO judgment. Narrowly constructed, the only thing the court ordered on the Swiss matters was for all the things Malik Qayyum did in his capacity as Musharraf’s attorney general to be withdrawn.

The exact language of paragraph 177 of the judgment reads: “… the communications addressed by Malik Muhammad Qayyum to various foreign fora/ authorities/courts withdrawing the requests earlier made by the Government of Pakistan.

Translated into layman’s terms, the Supreme Court was essentially telling the government that the Swiss judicial system will determine the fate of Zardari. Can they proceed with the cases while he’s the president of Pakistan? The Geneva public prosecutor’s comments to Reuters suggest not, but legal issues aren’t settled in casual remarks to a news service.

The main worry for Zardari, though, is what it has always been: the political cost. Securing a conviction against him for corruption has proved fiendishly difficult, even when a Pakistani government has been desperate to do so, as it was during Sharif’s second term. But the corruption allegations have proved a formidable weapon to destroy his political reputation.

On Wednesday, you could see again how it works. There on Dawn’s front page was the news of the deal on the 18th Amendment, and right beside it were the words ‘Swiss’, ‘cases’ and ‘Zardari’. His political foes will be happy: if they can’t get rid of him, at least they can be sure he will never grow in stature.

It’s not hard to imagine what the months ahead will look like either. Every few weeks there will be some news, either from Switzerland or Pakistan, of some development, or even non-developments, in the Zardari corruption saga.

And even if the Swiss quickly decide they can’t proceed against him  but they guarantee that ‘Swiss’, ‘millions’ and ‘Zardari’ will definitely appear in headlines together in the months, and most likely years, ahead.

The accidental president will give up his powers before long, but what he won’t do is shake off his past any time soon.

The Banana and its Seed

Posted by Tips Providers

Just this past October, the seed from a pink, wild banana (Musa itinerans), originating from China, was dutifully cleaned, labeled and set into semi-permanent cold storage in the United Kingdom as part of the Millennium Seed Project. For many of us gardening enthusiasts, the idea of a banana seed being suspended in time feels like a lost opportunity for the present (even though growing a wild banana would be a huge undertaking in most of the continental United States). For many of us banana enthusiasts, we are pleasantly surprised and puzzled to find out bananas actually have seeds.

The significance of this particular seed is that it marks a considerable achievement for both the Millennium Seed Project, an international conservation project whose sole purpose is to provide an surance policy. With the interring of this unassuming wild banana seed, the Millennium Seed Project, launched in 2000, has succeeded in saving 10 percent of the world’s plant seeds (this came three months ahead of schedule) in their climate-change-and-apocalypse-proof seed vault. For most of us, the impact of this project will have little effect on us directly, but, like all insurance policies, there will come a time when our future generations will inevitably have to cash out.

The scope and ambition of this project serve to illustrate the power and fragility of seeds. Sure digging your hands in the earth, planting a few sprouts and nurturing them to harvest is intensely gratifying, but seeds…well, seeds are the fountainhead, and these little nuclei have been slipping through our fingers for far too long.

It is springtime in most of the United States (some places it is a bit more evident than others) and with spring comes thoughts of summer gardens, ripe tomatoes, peppers, and a riot of greens and legumes. While most novice gardeners opt to plant seedlings, or sometimes nearly matured starter plants, why not go to the source? The seed. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the few disappointing results I had experienced in the past with pepper seeds, tomato seeds, and the seeds of a pawpaw fruit; much of this was due to shortcuts taken and general ignorance. And there certainly is something to be said about the relative ease of growing a tomato plant from a starter (quicker, easier, and more reliable), but actually utilizing the source point of these amazing plants and, in some sense, both manipulating and facilitating nature is a powerful and transformative act for everyone/everything involved

Planting an edible garden from seed takes some effort and vision, and the approach will greatly vary depending on what part of the world you call home (residents of Maine will likely not want to start sowing seeds until late spring). Still, the site of young green shoots piercing the soil after many weeks of uncertainty is a reward in itself. But seeds, being fragile little life forms, need protection from frost, vermin, and the like.

For the home gardener lacking a heated greenhouse, there are two main ways to start seeds under protection: indoors (in a sunny spot) or in a cold frame. A cold frame is a simple structure (usually made with a wood frame and a clear plexiglass top) that allows light to get through to the developing seeds, but keeps out the damaging cold. I am already making it sound way more complicated than it really is, but if you consider it a fruitful (forgive the pun) project that will ultimately yield great rewards (and a side salad to boot) the effort will surely be eclipsed by an enviable garden.
